The only cell phones compatible with the FSMTC system are Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) phones, operating on a 900 Mhz-wide band. A GSM phone uses a SIM card, a chip or "smart card" that holds the user's account and mobile number.
Yes. You can buy a cellphone anywhere, provided that it is not locked by any telecommunications company or service carrier and is compatible with the FSMTC network (GSM-900).
All FSMTCeLL users are currently able to access call waiting, caller id, call forward no answer and call forward busy to voicemail at no cost. FSMTCeLL services will be programming its system to allow customers call forwarding in the near future.
All FSMTCeLL customers calling long distance will be charged the applicable prepaid long distace/international rates. Prepaid calls get 20% discount or 1 dollar per minute, whichever is higher, and are charged on a six second increment basis. For international rates, click here.
When calling other FSM States, FSMTCeLL users are charged $0.50 a minute during regular hours and $0.30 during off-peak hours. This is the same rate charged to FSM Telcard users who are making domestic calls.
